Fics like Touch Me, Please

She was going to Gommage. She had failed, and she was going to pay for it with her life. She couldn’t save Lumière. She couldn’t save her friends… She couldn’t save— “Gustave?!” * * * When Gustave wakes to find Lumière decimated and his friends beaten and bruised, his first instinct is to run to the sound of Maelle’s voice calling his name; her cries like a battering ram to his fragile heart, smashing it to pieces. He doesn’t know how he’s alive, or why. But when he tries to hug her — to hold his darling girl in his arms — she collapses. And that’s when he realizes something is very wrong. TLDR; Gustave was revived in Act III but something went horribly wrong.
