Fics like a portrait of you with marigolds

"The girl's irises were a deep golden orange—like a marigold thrust into the sunset, a color Alex had tried dozens of times to perfect." — The Unwanteds: Island of Silence - Lisa McMann Alex had to get this right. The eyes were the window to the soul, the marigolds held in her hand were the focal point of the piece, and this color—this vivid, striking, breathtaking, devastating color—was vital to capturing the whole point of the painting in the first place. Alex tries to capture a color in a moment before it passes.
