“Reg?” Sirius asks. “What’s going on?” For the briefest of moments, Regulus looks at him — really looks at him — and the red rims around his eyes twist like a knife in Sirius’s gut. Then Regulus blinks, and he’s made of marble. “I am not leaving,” he says. Sirius foolishly hopes that he misheard. “You’re… what?” “I am not leaving.” No hesitation. No humor. No crack to sink his fingers into. Or Sirius plans to grab his brother and run far away from Grimmauld Place. The problem? Regulus refuses to leave. The solution? James Potter.
