Fics like Ultraman Arc One Shot: There Are No Monsters

Yuma Hize is in his room on a dark night. Already terrified to death after what happened to his parents, he looks out the window to see amber eyes peering at him through a cloud of mist. Luckily, that night he is spared of whatever was looking at him. 16 years later, those same amber eyes through that same mist return in a valley, prompting SKIP to investigate. As Yuma contends with deep-seeded fear from that night as one of the creature's sole survivors, SKIP and the village collaborate to uncover a century old mystery regarding a connected urban legend. As the mist continues to swirl above the valley, the eyes near closer and closer, seeking to finish what it started 16 years ago.
