Fics like una scusa che sia un buon pretesto

He thinks about the ‘ritual’, how disturbing it felt, how heavy the words weighted in his mouth. He thinks of the taste of his own blood and the uneasy feeling of all those eyes on him that he wanted to escape but didn’t dare. He remembers Luca’s presence in his peripheral vision and at the back of his mind. The cut on his lower lip stings a little and he reflexively runs his tongue over it. Triggered by the movement, Luca's sharp gaze fixates on the cut. As if mesmerized, he raises his hand to Enzo's face, lifting his chin slightly, and strokes the cut with his thumb. For a moment, as Enzo holds his breath, Luca looks like he's about to say something but then his eyes shift to Enzo's, and the spell is broken. “My apologies.”
