Fics like Introspection; How Love Can Make You Hurt a Little Less

Ward Cameron is dead, and Rafe doesn't know how to feel. He’s upset. Of course he is! His fucking dad is dead, becuase of Sarah. Of course it was Sarah. Sarah ruins everything, everything. And Rafe tried to kill him. Put a hit out on his dad, who had done nothing but love him his whole life. But– that wasn’t true, was it? Ward said it so many times growing up. When he was drunk, when Rafe fucked up, when mom died. Rafe was unlovable. Unlovable to anyone who wasn’t Ward, but only when Rafe was good. That’s why he wasn’t able to make any real connections. That’s why dad had to hit him. That’s why mom killed herself. Now dad is dead, and he has no one to love him anymore, even for a little while.
