Rataje is haunted by a ghost of a long dead lord who died under mysterious and heartbreaking circumstances. When Geralt and Jaskier stop at the town before parting ways for the winter, Jaskier finds himself desperate to find out more about the ghost. However, everyone in town is skittish about giving the full story, so when Geralt leaves for a hunt in the nearby woods, Jaskier takes investigating the ghost of Jan Ptáček into his own hands. Though if Jaskier isn’t careful, his bubbling bitterness about being left behind again might be heard by a kindred spirit. Meanwhile, Geralt’s supposedly run of the mill hunt takes a dark turn when the ghost he’s hunting reveals a centuries old murder. - “Ah, so you like love stories, is that it?” Jaskier murmured. The presence stayed. In fact, Jaskier felt distinctly like he was being watched to his left. So much so that he actually turned his head to the side, preparing himself for the fright of finding a ghastly face looking back at him. There wasn't. “Long ago, two knights met on the field of battle in the wine-soaked fields of Toussaint..." Knowing Kingdom Come: Deliverance isn't required to read, but basic knowledge of the Witcher is.
