Fics like Dan Heng's (Not So) Comprehensive Guide on How to Propose to your Lover

“Stelle,” he says aloud in the empty room. “I have something to tell you. I’m sorry for bringing this up so suddenly but–” In his hands, the bejewelled hairpin feels like a heavy weight. He steps forward and tries not to look too eager. “I’ve loved you for a long time.” He sticks out the hairpin awkwardly. It almost slips from his grip, but he manages to grasp it just in time. “Would you– would you do me the honour of becoming my wife?” ... Dan Heng looks down at his outstretched hand and groans. Dan Heng practices proposing to Stelle... and eventually ends up proposing for real.
