Fics like She Waits In Ruin

There is no need to struggle against the ossified, corpse-stiff embrace—there is nowhere else to go and nowhere else to be. No one left to look for her, to wait for her, or to even lay flowers upon her unmarked grave. No one left to come back to. Only here, only now, this one single endless moment of stillness, already sinking soundlessly into the left behind past. It is so blatantly easy to let her spirit go out like a weak flame of a guttering candle, to let her body stop and give up, allowing her flesh to unravel into the sweet, putrid rot, so something better, simpler can one day grow from her forgotten bones when even the faint and fraying memory of her crumbles to dust like a flake of ash. It would be so easy. Then again, there has never been anything easy about Carpenter’s life.
