Fics like Walking through the fog

Hundreds of years ago, Spirits formed contracts with powerful humans. This allowed them to spend time outside of the NeverNever without using their life force. Over time they are forgotten and contracts are no longer formed regularly. Harry Dresden was once one of the spirits, a wolf in particular. He'd been contracted against his will to Justin DeMorne only to kill him. Despite having a good reason for doing so, he is banished from returning to the place that could restore his life force. 10 years after this he accidentally binds himself to John Marcone through the Soul Gaze. He knows what is happening but decides not to tell John about it. He just watches from the shadows interfering only if necessary. Until Nicodemus attacks John as Harry is on the last legs of his life force.
