Fics like Honey and Burning Nettle

Berk is a cold, Gods forsaken island. A dreary place that freezes every shred of light and hope from even the hardiest of men. Home to the most ruthless Vikings in the archipelago. Or the stupidest, depending on who you ask. Jack and Hiccup, both outcasts in their own right, had the unfortunate luck of calling this rock "home", if you could even consider it one, absent anything warm or inviting. Healer and inventor. Two boys whose paths diverged years ago, pulled apart by guilt-laden obsession and desperation to be more. When Hiccup shoots down the infamous NightFury, things quickly get out of hand, and the secrets begin to pile up as the two are forced together once more. Hiccup's forbidden bond with the dragon brought him and Jack closer, but it threatens to destroy his fragile bonds with the rest of his tribe. Together, they could return hope to their ailing tribe... but generations of fear threaten to destroy them once and for all.
