Fics like The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same

Back at it again at the Krispie Kreme, Avernus version. Karlach is trapped here, fighting every day in this horrible literal hell pit. But this time, she isn’t alone! Astarion and Wyll are here! But… gods, maybe that is making this shit worse, instead of better? Astarion keeps getting injured in battles, and Karlach doesn't feel any less guilty about things when he repeatedly says he's fine, he was tortured all the time before, it’s nothing to him, look how fast he heals. Karlach was already scared she had brought him to Avernus only for him to die, instead of getting to enjoy his new free life, then today he managed to fall into a pit of lava during a battle. They fish him out, but now Karlach has to deal with protecting a badly burnt and feetless vampire on top of all of the other horrors of the hells. And he won’t stop making jokes about the situation long enough for her to fucking think! ARGH!!! -or- Astarion gets horrifically injured but is more worried about making sure Karlach isn’t sad about it.
