When they were little, and too small for words- the ice giants had communicated with each other through sound. Clicks and purrs they hadn't even realized they were making until each had been lifted into the warm and loving gaze of the Sun- who'd spoken in words they didn't even know they were capable of speaking until they heard his voice, caring and soft as he whispered their names like a prayer, admiring ones pretty wings and stroking the other's fins and tail. It didn't take long to notice that back then, when there were no moons, no rocky planets, no dwarf planets and only four giants, they were the only ones capable of producing such sounds. One stopped making them because he felt embarrassed by his differences. The other stopped because he forgot he could. Or After the moons returned hurt from their battle against Planet X, Uranus started an old habit he couldn't even remember doing in hopes of healing his moons... and his dear cousin, after worrying about him too. OR Apparently, fish and birds can purr.
