Fics like Fever

“Come on,” Vash says, “can’t you see I’m in a bind?” “I should charge you double fer bringin’ plague.” “It’s not plague! Please, I need to take care of him.” “Fifty. Double. Dollars. Or get the hell outta my lobby.” “I don’t have that. I don’t want trouble, is there anything else I can do?” The woman leans around to look at Wolfwood, wrinkling her nose. She eyes his clothing, appraising for the worth of a worn down cotton mess held together by prayers and Wolfwood’s shoddy mending skills. Then her eyes skip up to the Punisher still strapped to Vash’s back. Then back to Wolfwood. “Church man?” Vash nods stiffly. “He wear jewelry?” A rosary. “No,” Vash says. She shrugs. “Less you cough up something, I can’t help you.” Vash stares at her then nods and nods and keeps nodding as he pulls his revolver out from under his coat. He sets it on the counter without looking down at it. “Will this work?” or~ Wolfwood gets shot in the gut.
