Gavin Reed didn't want a partner, especially not *Connor*. Plastic prick came in, tried to take his job, kicked off a revolution, and left Gavin out cold on the floor of the evidence room. But that was six months ago. And six months, apparently, is a long fucking time. Long enough for prejudices to crack. Long enough to catch feelings he had no idea what to do with. Gavin spent his whole life learning that hope gets you nowhere. That nothing good sticks. People leave- or worse, they got tired of him and stayed just long enough to make it hurt. So he stopped wanting things entirely. Until Connor, relentless, patient, and stupidly kind, started looking at him like he was worth something. Like he was worth sticking around for. And maybe Gavin wanted to believe it. Five times he held himself back... and one time he didn't. (Plus a bonus smutty chapter at the end because I know how frustrating it can be to read 5 chapters of pining and only get the 1 of The Good Shit, lmao).
