Fics like gravity well

Mat makes a different final request of the Eelfinn, and ends up in the Aiel Waste. It was impossible to avoid the scent that rose up around the Eelfinn and clotted the chamber. Musky and sickly-sweet, like the fox den near the old Wisdom’s house. Full of dead things. Foolish of him to miss Rand so desperately right now. Mat didn’t even like the One Power! Still, it would have been reassuring to have some protection beyond… beyond hitting the Eelfinn in the face or some other nonsense that wouldn’t help. Rand had been able to kill one of the Forsaken, so surely he would have been able to handle this strange fellow as well. The Eelfinn sniffed and prowled towards him, and the look of hunger on its face made Mat feel as if he might lose the noodles that he’d managed to eat earlier. He wanted his words to come out angry and defiant, wanted to swear and scream in the Eelfinn’s face. But those clothes… white leather and- and he thought he saw a nose, stretched out along the shoulder. Made of people. Out of the people who’d stumbled into here and never managed to leave again, on account of there being no bloody door. No way out.
