Fics like Strangers in a Strange Land

Two years before that fateful night at the Juke Club, Remmick finds himself fleeing an angry mob, the blood of a filí still wet on his lips. With his pursuers closing in and the sun moments away from rising, Remmick does the only thing he can do: Knock on a door and beg to be let in. His unlikely savior is Eleonora Pazzi. Veteran, painter, hunter... and expecting mother. An unconventional cohabitation is born, and over time, companionship blossoms into love. The kind that, if given the chance, could last a lifetime. But then, Remmick senses a certain filí from Clarksdale. One far more gifted than any he's ever laid eyes or ears on before. From there, he must make a choice: Does he abandon his centuries-long goal of reconnecting with his ancestors for the sake of his new family? Or does he leave the life he's built with Eleonora - and her child, whom he'd been raising alongside her - for a chance to see his people again? One thing is for certain: Whatever he chooses, there will be consequences.
