Fics like Round of applause

Roxie strikes a pose as the stage flashes around her. She looks out into the loving audience, with the grace and desire of a starved siren at sea. The exhilaration of finally being on stage made the world look a whole lot rosier than ever before. What was once the dreadful tone borne of being overlooked as a girl, has now become the dream of a woman. She felt the applause of the audience wash over her with an insatiable sense of satisfaction. She had finally got her comeuppance. Unfortunately, it had to be beside Velma goddamn Kelly.
