Fics like Homecoming

"This heart beats for you. It will beat twice as much for you, twice as hard, to make up for when you cannot. If you cannot." He had promised him those words, and lived every day since, sticking to that promise. Nearing eighty years old and on the brink of retirement, Dr. Leorio recalls Kurapika’s homecoming to the Kurta village to bury the Scarlet Eyes after completing his life's mission. Time has blurred the details, but not the feeling left behind. And some memories, no matter how distant or delicate, refuse to fade. Because everything reminds him of his dearest friend: from the brightest star in the sky to tea-stained mugs, from yellow wildflower fields to the rustling of pages of old cookbooks. How could he ever let those memories go?
