Fics like Give me one more second

“No,” he choked, clutching him tighter, like he could hold the life in. Like he could force Spencer’s soul to stay with him through sheer will. “Don’t go. Don’t you fucking dare leave me. Please…” He rocked them gently, the way someone would a child or a prayer—back and forth, back and forth—his hand pressed hard over the gaping wound that had stopped bleeding, which he knew meant something worse. His shirt was soaked. The floor beneath them was slick. The air reeked of iron and sweat and death. “I love you,” Morgan whispered. It wasn’t brave. It wasn’t romantic. It was broken. A confession soaked in blood. “I love you, I love you, I love you—God, please let him hear me—please…” He didn’t know who he was begging to. God had never done shit for him before. But now? Now he would’ve sold his soul just to hear Spencer mumble some half-sarcastic statistic. Just to hear that voice again. But Spencer didn’t move. Didn’t even flinch.
