Sam's first year of uni was pretty tame, all things considered. He’d changed his major three times in one week but settled on classics after talking with Luke, half-drunk. He made friends in the drama club he’d signed up for and went out with them every few weeks for a drink. He passed his classes just barely and half-dead. Second year was worse. More assignments swamping all his free time, losing touch with his family after showing no signs of changing his major, flubbing several of his drama exercises, a hundred little things that piled up to drown him. At some point, drinking had become less of a get-together to have fun and more of a life-saving shield against the pressure of everything. It was the only thing that shut his thoughts up. or, based on genres from “i’m gluten freee” with sam and tom, and luke directing, where sam says in relation to university, “i was driNKING!”
