Fics like Take Me Away From Myself

[Currently undergoing rewrites] He wanted so desperately for none of this to have even happened. That he could just close his eyes and wake up, and everything would be normal again. Obi-Wan wasn’t stupid. Simply wishing it away wouldn’t make any difference, wouldn’t fix anything. And yet. He couldn’t stop himself. Wet, startlingly cold tears washed clean streaks through the soot and grime on his face as he stared almost blindly down at Anakin. It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. Anakin was the Chosen One, he was supposed to save the Jedi. And yet. And yet, here they were. A Sith and a Jedi, so heartbreakingly similar in all the wrong ways. ----------------- Obi-Wan finds he can't leave Anakin to burn on Mustafar, nor can he kill him -- but taking him and fleeing might not have been the best idea, either. Anakin struggles between himself and Vader, who to believe, to trust, and who to hate (if not himself). Obi-Wan fights to remind Anakin who he is, all while running from Palpatine, his emotions, and anything standing between him and Anakin at his side once more.
