Fics like Your Faith Like Silk Around My Neck

Charles is happy as Edwin's knight. It's all he needs, to be at his best mates side. And the challenge for Edwin's hand, well, it only bothers him because Edwin's great, and even though he's the Prince, it doesn't feel right that he isn't marrying purely for love. But when Edwin involves him in the challenge, making him the one to determine who will marry into the royal family, Charles feels sick. How can he choose who will love Edwin the way he deserves? What does Edwin want for the person at his side? And why does it feel more and more like that's where Charles wants to be? (Medieval AU, where Charles is the knight with Edwin's token, and the whole kingdom seems desperate for the hand of the one he loves most. Charles battles with who could love Edwin best, but the answer is closer than he would have expected.)
