Fics like life could be that bright

Glancing in past the door left ajar, Odysseus sees Telemachus and a tall figure standing at the window, facing the sea beyond. The figure - a woman - ruffles Telemachus’s hair familiarly as he bends over in laughter. There are scars all over the woman’s body, and her half-armor is battered and dented and of a make unlike anything Odysseus has yet seen in Ithaca. He’s curious, perhaps slightly suspicious - because being back with his family has softened his heart but it has not dulled his edge - and leans in to get a better view. And then Odysseus sees her face, recognizes her, and lets out a sound like he’s been punched.
