When 13-year-old Anne Shirley-Cuthbert arrives in Avonlea, she is at peace and finds happiness with her new family. Suddenly, the boy who lives in the house right next to Green Gables catches her interest, and she hates that she doesn't hate him. Confusing feelings follow Anne from middle school to high school. He knew they were adopting a boy, but when 14-year-old Gilbert Blythe's neighbors adopt a girl too, his world turns upside down. Suddenly, all the overwhelming emotions his dying father described as love took place in his heart. Now, he's determined to make Anne Shirley-Cuthbert his one day. An alternating POV fanfiction that takes place in the modern world. Title from Gracie Abrams's song "The blue." Started 12/9/2024.
