Fics like Benvolio, Valentine, and the Ghost of Verona

There’s been a rumour since their childhood that the grounds across from the school yard were once the site of a notorious duel and are now haunted. The thing was, it wasn’t a particularly clean duel: the opponent wasn’t shot in the heart but the foot and died a week later from blood loss and infection he sustained while limping back toward his home. Forever angered by the shame of his death, he returns every first night of autumn, dragging his bloody foot through the ground and cursing at those he passes. If they do not show sufficient fear of him, he curses them for the rest of their days. Valentine doesn’t believe this in the slightest, but Benvolio certainly does.
