Fics like Super Effective Against Ghost Types

“Were you like Brad and Hunter, when you were alive?” Niko asked dubiously. Charles stilled. “Well—maybe. I think I was always a little bit different from other guys, to be honest,” he said, like he was confessing something. “My old mates were definitely cut from the same cloth, though.” “Oh,” Niko realized. “Is that why you want them to be good guys? They remind you of your friends?” “Er…” Charles trailed off. He squished the ball of PlayDoh in his hands. Gray showed between his fingers. “Not exactly. My old mates weren’t, ah. Well. They weren’t good guys, in the end. I mean, Brad and Hunter do remind me of them. A lot, actually. But it’s more like, it would be really nice to know that guys like James or Pete could be nice.” He contemplated the dough in his hands with a small frown. “I just wonder, if those guys had been born a little later, maybe they would have turned out better? Maybe we might have been alright.” Niko followed his gaze. Charles seemed to be getting PlayDoh residue on his fingers. They were turning gray, now, too. “Were your friends nice to you?” Niko asked, suddenly worried. Charles met her eyes, but he had a faraway look on his face. “Sometimes,” he said.
