Fics like pitch for you

Bruce tossed the ball again, aiming for another swing, but this time he missed his mark, sending the ball shooting over the metal cage around the field. It landed just a few feet from Vance, bouncing a few short times before rolling to a stop near his boot. Bruce looked up, about to drop his bat and run to get his ball — but then he noticed Vance, and froze. A flicker of unease crossed his face; everyone knew Vance’s reputation, and it wasn’t exactly for pitching in on friendly neighborhood baseball games. Vance had the nickname "pinball Vance" around town for a reason, as everyone knows about what happened the day someone fucked with Vance's pinball game. But Bruce didn’t leave. He just watched Vance from afar in quiet, wary silence. OR Vance leaves his house on Christmas to blow off some steam after getting into a bad fight with his jack-ass father. On his walk around town, he comes across Bruce, batting by himself. He has no pitcher, so he's just sort of throwing the ball in the air and trying to hit it on time. It's sort of sad. So, Vance decides to pitch for the guy, only because he feels bad for him. That's it.
