Fics like If it's my choice...

Everything in his life seems too good to be true. Sure, being Fire Lord is stressful and constantly throwing curveballs at him. And, yes, there are mounting problems on the international and domestic fronts. But he has the love of his life in his arms, someone to share not only his heart but also his problems and passion for helping the people of the world. Together, they've done incredible work. He can't believe how lucky he is. And so, when Katara has an accident that wipes her memory of the past 5 years, putting him squarely back into "enemy," he can't help but feel it's what he deserves. And as hard as it is to accept that she can't remember their amazing love story, he just wants to have her in his life--even as just friends. -- Or, the story of how Katara loses her memories and still, against all odds, falls for her enemy once again.
