Fics like The Fire Lord Is Dead

A messenger hawk practically fell from the sky and onto the deck. It croaked quietly in misery when a soldier scooped it up, its wings fluttering from exhaustion, feathers tipped in frost. The urgency that had driven the bird to fly beyond reason was immediately clear when the scroll was untied from its leg and slipped free from the oilcloth that had protected it from the elements – the wax seal of the head Fire Sage gleamed in the dying sunlight. ** “Dead.” Admiral Zhao stared at the scroll. The almost habitual smirk was gone from his face, and his expression was almost slack from the shock. “The Fire Lord is dead?” *** OR: Before the Fire Nation fleet arrives at the Northern Water Tribe, news arrives that Ozai is dead. The planned invasion is called off, and Iroh and Zuko return to Caldera City to deal with the sudden change in regimes.
