She looks at him with an expression Buck can only call cautious, gentle and kind around the edges. “Temporary?” “I couldn’t abandon her.” He can feel something just behind his teeth, waiting to spill out, but he can’t quite name it. “Not if I could do something about it.” (or, buck fosters a traumatised teen and together they start to heal.)
