And I didn’t say anything before because you were with Tommy, and I didn’t want to mess things up for you.” Buck’s chest tightened, guilt creeping in like a shadow. “Chris, you would never mess things up for me. And you’ll always come first.” Chris’s shoulders sagged with relief, but his voice was still small. “So I can live with you?” Or Buck, struggling with abandonment and feelings of being unworthy, is shaken when Chris calls, asking if he can live with Buck now that he’s no longer with Tommy.
