Fics like Spend My Nights on Overdrive

Josef crosses the finish line 7th and he feels the numbness seep into his bones. The loss settles inside him and he shivers, cool from disappointment despite the raging heat. He’s the only Penske not on the podium today. He’s the only Penske without a win this weekend. He’s sinking in the championship, taking on water from mistake after mistake. It’s only a matter of time before he drowns in it, the loss, the emptiness, the loneliness. He has no wins and no one. He is utterly, terribly, alone. -- Josef doesn't win in Iowa. It might be the last straw
