Fics like This Is How We Rise Up

“I don’t know what happened,” he answers finally. “One moment, I was – and then I was on the shore and everyone – and I realized I was in the past. I assume I… time traveled.” The words hang in the air, and the silence feels almost too fragile to break. Crosshair scoffs. “That’s ridiculous.” He doesn’t know what he expected the shadow to do, but it’s not to give him a withering glare, a spark of anger in his eyes. Finally. Something. The coldness, the emptiness, it was scaring him, though he’ll never admit it. “Do you have a better explanation?” - - - - - - - - - - Crosshair’s mission is simple up until the moment when Hunter yells at him. But it’s not his Hunter. This new, second Hunter is… different. Older. Broken. And he’s entirely unhinged and feral. He will stop at nothing until Crosshair comes with them. No one is being left behind, not even Crosshair. Especially not Crosshair. Hunter intends to keep this squad together, even if he has to die to see it come to pass.
