Fics like in the blooming of dawn's light

There are times when Yrliet considers, briefly, that what she felt for the Lord Captain was love. Rare times. The feelings of a creature like herself are like birdsong that rarely graces the morning. Or the flicker of fireflies in the late afternoon. Or the rustle of bamboo when a cold breeze whistles through the long, slender stalks. That is to say, what Yrliet feels is rarer than gold. A feeling so rare it is regurgitated by time for mere moments before it is swallowed by oblivion. Knowing all this, what is the use of telling the Lord Captain how she truly feels?
