Fics like Past and Present (Now Embrace)

Allen could count on one hand the amount of people who could casually touch him without sounding off fine-tuned warning bells. This stranger was decidedly not one of them, and yet, and yet— Purple eyes instinctually sought out the hand firmly keeping him in place and hesitantly, he followed the foreign limb until he made eye contact with strangely luminous eyes. ’What are you?’ Allen wanted nothing more than to ask, even as he remained quiet. ______________________________________________ As a consequence of circumstances, Allen finds himself working on a contractual basis in the very heart of the palace. What started as a short, uncomplicated stay spirals into a bloody mess as a ploy to ensure the line of succession begins to unravel. With the end of his stay upon him, Allen has to grapple with the unexpected role he's found himself playing, as the bonds he'd fully intended to cut reveal themselves to be far more binding than he could've ever imagined.
