Soulmarks came too easily to Buck. Maddie used to say it was because his heart was too big, too whole. That it just meant he loved too easily, so it wasn’t a bad thing. But every time a new soulmark would appear as a faded scar across his skin, he knew it was. Because soulmarks only appeared black if the person you loved, loved you back. ~ Every time you fall in love with someone, you gain a soulmark for that person.
