Fics like Taking the First Step

After the New Squidbeak Splatoon's Attack on Octo Valley and played that treacherous song- the Squad had been one commander short, as did many other squads in the Octarian Military and after the king's return, Ingrid hoped that meant she'd be promoted as a new elite commander. Wrong. Her squad had been set to be some inkling girl's back up dancer crew. At first it was humiliating. But- they'd all grown so attached- and when she'd been taken away from them- away to.. the surface. They followed suit soon after. Wondering, hoping, reaching for the sky of constellations their shooting star fell from. Now, living on the surface, they must adapt to their new surroundings. One step at a time.
