Fics like This Can't Be How The Story Ends

After leaving Clover with Asgore, Martlet realizes she can't let Clover throw away his life. She confronts the king, quickly spiriting the child away to keep him safe. After finding a home in the Dunes, the two begin to form a bond, and a parental situation born out of casually committing treason becomes a very comfortable one. However, Clover is in trouble as soon as he arrives. Starlo's depression over Ceroba's murder causes him to be no help when Undyne prepares to take Clover's soul... And she refuses to give up until Clover is dead. On top of all that, Flowey manipulates everything behind the scenes, keeping Clover on the path back to the castle... Where he's sure to be killed. Thrown into an unfamiliar situation once again, Martlet has to learn responsibility, how to protect... And how to be a good parent.
