Fics like Recording in Progress

There is no peace, not with Alhaitham sitting at the table in the kitchen as he usually does. Like their routine will continue as normal. Normal is Kaveh tugging at Alhaitham’s bed hair as he passes by. It’s filling a mug with already-brewed coffee, dropping into the vacant chair, peering over at whatever document or paper Alhaitham is reading and helping himself to its contents. It’s rubbing sleep-sand from his eyes. It’s Alhaitham swiping a stray drop of milk from his cheek as Kaveh’s face burns. It’s the late-morning light holding the day in languid suspension for them to keep together. Like normal is attainable. Like normal is everything they could ever ask for. ●●● Mehrak records everything. Including the things Kaveh and Alhaitham don’t see.
