"[Friedrich] walked to the door carefully, as if he could be seen through it; slowly — like one would approach a wounded animal. The irony was not lost on him that, had he had the guts to entangle himself from Heinrich’s crushing hold on his throat, the (ap)praising trap of his elbow, this is how he would have gone after Albrecht. Slowly, softly—if he dared think it this way—as to not hurt him any more. (Would Albrecht have huffed and puffed and cursed him out for handling him with kids’ gloves? Oh, yeah, probably, he was aware. But that didn’t happen. So he could stop worrying about it and mind his migraine instead.)" Regret (and maybe something else) weighting on his mind, Friedrich makes his way to Albrecht's room in the middle of the night. He just wants to talk... Yes, he just wants to say sorry. (This is what he tells himself.)
