Fics like Now I See Daylight

“Everyone in the family, they’re not how you remember. When I was eighteen, Bea was a suicidal cocaine addict. Philip wasn’t Pip– he was Lieutenant Windsor, a carbon copy of Gran who only interacted with me to tell me off. And Mum shut herself away so completely that she might as well have been a ghost. It was like you had both died, do you understand? It was like everyone I loved had died in one fell swoop.” Henry had forced himself to look at his father’s face while he spoke, just to mark the changes: confusion, shock, sadness. “My boy,” said Arthur, his always-strong voice shot through with cracks. “I am so, so sorry.” Henry ducked his head, properly crying, now. He believed him. Henry’s dad believed him. Now that he knew that for sure, the floodgates opened. - What if Arthur Fox never died, but instead fell into a coma in 2015? What if, in 2024, he woke up? What if Henry got to talk with his dad about everything he had been going through for all those years?
