Fics like Protector of ARK

“Look,” Sonic took a deep breath. “You’ve been here for... months. It’s not good for you. You need to come back.” Shadow didn’t reply. “Everyone’s been worried,” Sonic continued. “You can’t sit here forever and just. Rot.” “Rot?” “Yeah, rot. The place is falling apart around us, there’s no one here but you, what are you even trying to protect? The legacy of ARK? Some ghosts?” There was one card he hadn’t yet played, and his foot did a reflexive tap in anticipation of a reaction he couldn’t estimate. “Do you really think this is what Maria would have wanted you to be doing with your life?” --- Inspired by one of the mid-hero endings of ShTH 2005.
