Fics like A Ghastly Shade of Blue

Red never went to Lavender Town. Because he was still short on cash after losing all the bike race prize money to the Snorlax, he took a detour and joined a smaller-scale Pokemon tournament with a moderate cash prize. After that, Green conned him into buying useless gear with all his savings, and he spent a while hunting her down to get the money back. Despite the rocky start, they parted ways able to stand each other and with a mutual respect. After he beats the Celadon city gym, it occurs to him he hasn't run into Blue for a while.
