Fics like The Maginot Line

“The D.A. is already looking into that,” Alex says, “But we’re not here to formulate or evaluate social policies Ms. Miller. We’re here to prosecute any wrongdoing and to provide justice to the victims and their families. Please don’t confuse your mandate for something else. If you want to execute policy changes, you should have run for politics. Now if you’ll excuse me, I still have the press to address-“ Alex leaves the two women behind but before he can step his foot out of the establishment, Miller calls to him again- “Isn’t that supposed to be your dream, counselor?” Miller asks, her tone shifting into something more raw, “I used to listen to your speeches when your mother was running for election.” “Looking at you now,” Miller hammers in, “I’d say I’d prefer you back in the day-“ It took a while for Alex to answer. He looks at Kincaid and sees her knowing look. “That makes the two of us, Ms. Miller,” Alex then turns away and walks out. - - - Or the one where we see more of Alex's life as a lawyer
