Fics like they'll fall to the ground (when they're tired of the tree)

A stupid mistake leads to Lightning and Doc butting heads, and their falling out inadvertently affects the entire town. Sally hates to see them apart, and advises Lightning to mend his bridges. -- “You can’t protect me forever,” Lightning reminded him, his teeth gritted. “I’m not like you.” “Oh, so that's it,” Doc realized, face still nearly unreadable as his voice raised, “You only see me as someone you’d never want to be.” The barrier snapped. Like waves, it came rushing out, full force, unable to take back. “Why would anyone ever want to be you, if they saw how you turned out?”
