Fics like Remnants of a Friend

After Link defeats Ganon and the land of Hyrule is freed of Twilight, Midna leaves for her realm, severing the portal between their worlds without further explanation. After all the time with Midna and growing close with her, Link is devastated by her departure, and struggles to resume life under this "new normal"; he enters a series of unfortunate events that take him down a dark path. Zelda wants to provide support, indebted to the hero of the land, but faces her own demons and uncertainties. She wants to repay him for his service. On the other side of the coin, Midna wrestles to gain the respect of the Twili as she reclaims her throne, prove that she was not swayed by living in the land of light dwellers, and she must battle her regrets. They all wish they could re-do that fateful day at the Arbiter's Grounds—will the realms collide once again? - This is a re-write of a fanfic I wrote back when I was in high school. Took a 2-year hiatus, and now updates ~4 weeks (sometimes 3). My writing has changed a lot since I started working on this back in 2023 (and it's still evolving!), so I hope you'll bear with me—one day I'll edit the earlier chapters and it'll all be more congruent :-)
