Fics like a dog's heart

A long time ago someone – probably Obi-Wan – had accused him of taking a step backwards for every three steps forward. That had been generous, all things considered. Anakin sometimes thought it was the other way around. One step forward, then three steps back. These things always came in threes; little pushes telling him things needed to change. alternatively; Anakin faces a tough choice and the past he struggles to make peace with. It's a difficult call to pick between the cause he wants to fight for and the children he wants to shelter.
