Fics like The World's a Long Love Letter

(This is the spicy version of the story. If you'd prefer a closed-door version,it's here! The first chapter is the same.) Fire-hearted Cara Bailey is only barely acquainted with Joel Miller. They're about as dissimilar as two people can be--one quick to laugh and quick to trust, the other gone cold from years of solitude and just beginning to thaw. When they're assigned to the same patrol for the first time, they have a chance to get to know each other. What develops is an unexpected thing--a port in the storm that rages against them all. But the Infection continues to claim victims, Hunters still threaten Jackson, and the rope holding their society afloat still frays from time to time. This story takes place in the too-short time between Joel and Ellie's return from SLC and when TLOU2 picks up. Seasons change, but the characters will remain untouched by the events of TLOU2. The format of this story is essentially soap opera meets slice of life—smaller storylines that weave together to tell the larger story of Jackson, as seen through the eyes of Cara, Joel, and a few of their nearest and dearest.
