Fics like cicatrix

Being alive in a world like theirs is primarily down to skill and experience, but he can’t discount sheer stupid luck, either. And luck, he knows all too well, can run out. He gets bitten three days after Ellie’s tattoo while hauling an infected off of a trainee, a 17 year old named Clara who reminds him of Ellie with her sass and her smile, even though she’s a good half a foot taller than his little slip of a girl. She’s a good kid, has a solid head on her shoulders, but she’s still learning, and even with the trainees paired off with an adult, shit happens. (Joel gets bitten and has to be on watch to see if his dose of vaccine will be effective or not) (also ft. Ellie getting a tatoo)
